What does Mark Schwahn have up his sleeve? What started out as a television show with teen drama, angst, love-triangles, and parental "issues" centered around basketball has turned into a time-jumping, face-lifting, series about successful young adults raising kids, making movies, performing across the country, running clothing lines…and playing for the NBA. Gotta have the b-ball.

With the highly-publicized departure of two of One Tree Hill’s major cast members Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton at the end of season six, I had severe doubts on whether series creator/exec. producer Schwahn could pull it off for the seventh year. Did he? I’ve watch the season twice and I’m still not sure. How do you watch a show for over half a decade growing with characters only to see them gone in the blink of an eye and have to accept new actors you’ve never heard of that will take their place? It’s not an easy task for any devoted fan–which I am. One of the faces was pretty familiar–Austin Nichols was introduced in season six as Julian Baker, the movie producer who befriended Lucas Scott (Murray), previously dated Peyton Sawyer (Burton), and woo’d Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush)–and therefore had the opportunity to win fans over and not find him as somewhat of a ‘threat’ to Lucas’ memory.

Now, Robert Buckley? That’s a different story.

The season opens set a year after the previous season where we catch up with Nathan Scott (James Lafferty) who’s reaching stardom as a player for the NBA basketball team, the Charlotte Bobcats while finding the balance with being a devoted husband to Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) while raising their ever growing, curious and impressionable young son Jamie (Jackson Brundage). Nathan’s agent is a the smart-talking, good-looking, and flirtatious Clay Evans (Buckley) who already has a tight friendship with his client. A friendship we didn’t see get created or built. It was like watching a Pilot…who is this Clay guy and should we like him? What’s his story? This fresh start could shape up to be a good or bad thing. Camera pan to the quick flicks of a camera with a beautiful girl taking the photos…a beautiful girl who bares a striking resemblance to Haley who’s seen recording a song in the Red Bedroom Records sound booth as the episode opens. Collective sigh…we miss Peyton already. While she’s a new face, we know exactly who she is–Haley’s sister Quinn (Shantel VanSanten). At first glance at her somber look while photographing a child in Tree Hill, we’re already beating she has some drama she’s bringing to town. We bet it’s juicy. A scandal? No….she just got divorced and is trying to find her way. Is that all? Hmm, anti-climatic much? We’re already bored so, let’s move on to what B. Davis is up to.

Brooke’s clothing line Clothes Over Bros is getting ready for a new campaign that she’s hiring an actress to be the spokes model for. This model is exactly what OTH needs to stir the pot of drama when we find out that Alex Dupre (Jana Kramer) is a "recovering" drug addict/party girl who has eyes for Brooke’s man Julian. Oh it’s on, it’s so on and we needed popcorn for this. Even though we’ll be throwing the popcorn at the screen when the fights heat up, who really wants to watch a TV drama where everyone is happy all the time? It’s times like that when I miss Dan Scott (Paul Johansson) and Rachel Gatina (Danneel Harris) who use to bring it when it came to evil deeds and cat fights. Wait a minute, I don’t have to miss them because they came back this season…and aren’t you just dying to know how? I’m sure you are.

With Peyton out of the picture, Haley takes over her record company…at least she thinks she did. British business woman Miranda Stone steps in to monitor the record company as well as Haley’s new album which takes off and in turn takes her on a cross-country concert tour. What’s Tree Hill without a little music? Besides we’re not surprised Haley had enough material to write about considering the major "baby-mama" scandal that involved her husband Nathan and a b-ball groupie at the start of the season. Oh… did I forget to mention that?

Season seven is a roller-coaster of emotions including everything from drug addictions, sex scandals, body issues, stalkers, family loss, family gain, movie making, and…murder? If you’re into drama, rocky friendships, romance, comedy, then you should visit Tree Hill and enjoy 22 episodes filled with it all. It took a while for the new characters to grow on me, and I still don’t love them, but they definitely pulled their weight this seasons at times when it mattered. I think Nichols and Kramer really stole a lot of scenes and made it feel like old-school OTH for me every now and then.

So there you have it, we’re officially finished with season seven of One Tree Hill as it’s so obviously ready to be purchased for your at home viewing and the show still has a ways to go. If you’re a "tree-hugger"–as devoted OTH fans are often referred to as–then you’ll be please to know that you’ll be reading one of these all over again next year when you pick up your definite season eight DVD. Something tells me there’s a real possibility I’ll be telling you the same thing about season nine then. Fingers crossed!

Synopsis:

The journeys of those who hail from the town of Tree Hill have been vast, from Nathan and Haley’s first kiss to marriage, a son and, most recently, Nathan’s return to the basketball court. Now in its seventh season, One Tree Hill continues to explore the journeys of its beloved characters, while seamlessly introducing new favorites. As the series jumps ahead 14 months, these new relationships infuse the history and change the lives of those who live there. Through it all, these friends and family members realize that life always leads you right where you belong.

Special Features:

· A collective of Unaired Scenes were added. As usual, you find yourself anticipating something really juicy and new that you wish had been featured in the episode, but then you watch it and find that the cut was necessary. But hey, at least it’s something new….or slightly new.

· Being that this is the first season to truly have a series regular makeover, a spotlight featurette entitled Return to Camp One Tree Hill was done for the newcomer cast members Robert Buckley, India DeBeaufort, Jana Kramer and Shantel VanSanten. Bits of this will be familiar to the avid fan who watched YouTube videos that were posted in preparation for season sevens initial airing in September 2009.

· Behind-the-scenes footage of two very lucky winners of the Spring Break with One Tree Hill sweepstakes takes you on a journey on set of the show. The fans watch everything from setting up the scene to the filming of one–and they even get to step on the other side of the lens to star in scenes with their favorite stars.

· Unlike other television shows, One Tree Hill has become known for allowing its stars to have creative input in the show. So much so that in the seven seasons it’s been on air five cast members have directed several episodes. This season allowed for first-time director Sophia Bush to take over for episode #7.09 and the cameras followed Sophia as she rolled them on her co-stars. In the OTH – The Director’s Debut: Following First-Time Helmer Sophia Bush featurette you get to take a look at Sophia’s job in directing from beginning to end.

· My favorite for DVDs of any kind is the Gag Reel. There’s something about watching people mess up or laugh at themselves–or their friends/co-workers–that makes for pure entertainment. The only problem? The feature is never quite long enough.

· The final special feature to be mentioned is the Commentary on two of the episodes by OTH’s series creator/executive producer Mark Schwahn along with some key cast and crew members. If you’re the type of person who likes to know all the odds-and-ends of every detail in an episode…and you don’t mind watching something while people talk constantly…this is right up your alley.

In the premiere episode of 18 TO LIFE, when Tom and Jessie – 18-year-old next-door neighbors who have grown up together – run off and get married, their warring families are forced to become one in this hilarious multi-generational half-hour about relationships, true love, and who takes out the garbage. The series explores intimate relationships in combustible combinations as husband-wife, mom-dad, and in-laws all struggle to influence the newlyweds and control the extended family’s destiny. Tom and Jessie move into his parents’ attic and their marriage becomes public property, creating an endless string of challenges for the couple. "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" premiered in London this week and Ashley Greene chose a British designer for her press rounds while in the United Kingdom. For the press conference early Thursday morning, Ashley wore a Fall 2010 black leather jacket and matching high waist skirt by L’Wren Scott which she paired with a ruffled lilac blouse and d’Orsay pumps by Alexandre Birman.

That night Ashley chose to wear another look from L’Wren Scott‘s collection to the premiere–a shimmering metallic mini dress. Finally! The top of the dress fit her a little snug in the bust area, but all-in-all she looked youthful and gorgeous. It was a pleasant change from the mature looks she had been wearing last week while promoting the movie in Madrid and Belguim. I also loved Ashley’s custom dyed satin ‘Wagner’ pumps by Brian Atwood, the blue hue was a refreshing change from the typical black pump.

For her last two television appearances before going home to rest up, Kristen Stewart left us wanting to see how many dresses will look ultra-fab with her new blonde locks. Tuesday morning on "Live with Regis and Kelly", Kristen wore my favorite blue crepe dress from Peter Pilotto‘s Spring collection that features a watercolor design that includes stand out green and red shades. I was so happy to see Kristen in Pilotto, and so disappointed to see it for an appearance she’d be sitting the whole time for. Her purple patent pumps were by Christian Louboutin.
 

"Eclipse" is officially in theaters across the nation and Kristen celebrated by visiting George Lopez for his late night TBS show, "Lopez Tonight". Kristen’s dad is the stage manager for the show, so I was kind of shocked that this is the first time I saw her on it. I would’ve thought she’d have made a stop during her press run for "The Runaways" a couple of months ago.

The interview was relaxed and Kristen showed off her talent for juggling while wearing a custom black and navy strapless dress by Bally and Giuseppe Zanotti pewter pumps. Long loose waves and she was good to go. Simplicity.
 

Why on earth is this first time we’re seeing Kristen Stewart in an adorable braided up-’do like that she had last night at the New York City screening of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse"? Kristen is experimenting with her new hair color and I like it.

I also think it balanced really well with her RM by Roland Mouret seashell embellished dress. If you’re a Style.com lurker like myself, you may have seen this dress presented on the Fall/Winter 2010 runway with blue seashells covering it. Kristen’s featured an illuminating shade of purple that was sadly not captured by the photogs in such a dark setting. To play off the purple, Kristen wore purple/black ‘Bianca’ super-high pumps by Christian Louboutin.
 

"Eclipse" co-stars Xavier Samuel and Ashley Greene continued their European promotional tour in Antwerp, Belgium on June 29th, where the two premiered the third installment in the Twilight saga at the Kinepolis Cinema at Metropolis. Xavier kept it young and fresh in a grey suit with a matching satin tie that complimented his light blue dress shirt. Black dress shoes completed the look.

Ashley looked way beyond her years in a long sleeve, knee-length white dress with a Peter Pan neckline from the Pre-Fall 2010 collection by Azzaro. The dress featured crystal and beaded embellishments at the chest, scattered down the sleeves, and covering the cuffs. Ashley wore black pointed toe pumps to balance out with the matching bow at the waist of her dress. Avoiding any distraction from the dress, Ashley left her hair up in a poiny tail and wore drop earrings as well as a ring by Brumani.

Oh My Overnight Change! I was just the other day that Kristen Stewart was still sporting her chocolate brown locks, but yesterday when the actress arrived for her appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman", she was rocking a sun kissed blondish-red shade. The sudden change was due to the fact that Kristen is headed to begin work on a new movie this summer, but I hope she’ll keep this color because she looks fabulous!

The color also let Kristen’s sexy one sleeve Herve Leger black dress with a sheer strip diagonally across the chest separating the black from a shiny metallic gunmetal color block. I love this dress…I loved it on the runway and I love it on her. I also love how she kept up with this "illusion" style by wearing the black suede ‘Marlo’ pumps by Brian Atwood that feature lucite siding. You go girl.

This morning Kristen continued to shock by wearing a light ice gray tank dress by Helmut Lang and nude suede pumps by Christian Louboutin on "The Today Show". Kristen’s been saving some of her best looks for last!
 

Yesterday morning Ashley Greene attended the press conference and photo call for "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" in Madrid, Spain. Last year Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner took care of all the overseas promotion dates but, with Robert filming "Water For Elephants" and Taylor and Kristen exhausted from their around the world stops, it was fun to see Ashley Greene and her co-star Xavier Samuel with director David Slade (not pictured) taking the reigns in Spain.

For the photocall Ashley wore a very mature tie-neck blouse and Pre-Fall seamed pencil skirt by Michael Kors with a matching belt that featured a large studded buckle. While the outfit is pretty, I think it ages Ashley severely. I would expect to see Meryl Streep in this, not Ashley–nevertheless, the 23-year-old actress oozed confidence. I wish I could’ve gotten a closer look at her snakeskin peep-toe pumps by Alexandre Birman.

I expected to see something short and sassy for the premiere that night, but instead got to see Ashley in my favorite dress from Donna Karan‘s new Resort 2011 collection. The knee-length black lace dress with the large belted bow looked fantastic on Ashley’s figure. With her hair in a casual side-braid, she threw on her burgundy t-strap ‘Cristal’ sandals by Brian Atwood to complete the look. You can’t see it too well from the photo, but there’s a metallic gold bow that sits at the heel of the shoe. I love the shoes, but I would’ve preferred to see them paired with a different dress. Maybe some strappy sandals would’ve been better suited.
