High School Musical Returns – and It’s Better Than Ever!DISNEY’S MEGA MUSICAL MOVIE RETURNS WITH A PHENOMENAL SEQUEL!

STILL ALL IN THIS TOGETHER?
The whole crew returns in the sequel to Disney mega-hit… no wait, phenomenal original movie High School Musical! Since the first films premiere in January of 2006, HSM has not only become a household name, it’s practically taken over the hearts of pre-teens and young adults all over the world!

In High School Musical 2, the movie takes your favorite East High Wildcats to where? SUMMER VACATION! Of course it wouldn’t be High School Musical without high-stepping, powerhouse musical numbers such as the films opener, “What Time Is It?”  The movie kicks off with the students of East High heading off for the summer in search for jobs, or in Sharpay and Ryan’s cases — relaxing and scheming! When Sharpay finds out Troy needs some extra money for college, she gets him a job at her family’s country club, but it only takes a short amount of time before she begins to realize that the idea of Troy swooning around her all summer doesn’t exactly match reality. Pretty soon the whole gang of friends being showing up! Gabriella takes on the new lifeguard position – courtesy of Troy – while Chad, Taylor, Kelsie (Olesya Rulin), Martha (Kaycee Stroh), Jason (Ryne Sanborn) and Zeke (Chris Warren Jr.) grab hold of kitchen duty.

While everything seems to be running smoothly, Sharpay plots to yet again steal Troy away from Gabriella at the country clubs annual talent show. There are no lengths Sharpay wouldn’t go to when it comes to breaking Troy and Gabriella up! After being introduced to Sharpay and Ryan’s parents, Troy’s personality begins to change when he realizes the perks of his job can help land him a scholarship which puts a damper on his friendships with not only his fellow Wildcats, but his girlfriend when he begins skipping out on plans and ignoring his friends.

Is this change in Troy a permanent one? Can his relationship with Gabby withstand this downfall? Is this the end of the Wildcats friendship? You’ll have to tune in August 17th on Disney Channel. We can promise you’ll be laughing, squealing, singing along, and dancing in your seat the entire time! One thing is for sure, wherever there’s High School Musical, it’s guaranteed to be a party!

WHAT HAS THE CAST BEEN UP TO?

High School Musical Returns – and It’s Better Than Ever!ZAC EFRON – “Troy Bolton”
While he didn’t participate in the the first High School Musical: The Concert Tour, Zac has definitely kept himself busy. Doing what? You may ask. Dancing and singing of course! Late last year, Zac landed one of the leading roles in the film version of the Broadway musical, Hairspray, which was based off the 1988 cult-classic film by John Waters. Zac is set to play the character “Link Larkin”; which shouldn’t be too much of a stretch from real life considering Link is adored by all the girls in his high school and he sings and dances on an American Bandstand-esque show in Baltimore, Maryland, where the movies story takes place. Unlike in the first HSM, Zac recorded his own vocals for the role of “Link” and not only did he cut and dye his hair nearly black, he also gained 15 pounds. This mega-role is actually what kept him off the HSM tour, which allowed Drew Seeley to go in his place. FYI: Drew was the singing voice of “Troy” in the first movie.

Hairspray hit theaters in July of this year and was dubbed “the happiest movie of the year”. Oh, and in case you missed it, Zac made his first appearance on Oprah with his Hairspray cast-mates this past May.

Next up is a movie titled 17 Again with Matthew Perry and rumor has it a remake of Footloose directed by Kenny Ortega!

High School Musical Returns – and It’s Better Than Ever!VANESSA HUDGENS – “Gabriella Montez”
The last year and half has definitely kept Vanessa busy! Not only has she appeared numerous times with Monique and Ashley on Disney’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Vanessa also put out her first solo album, simply titled V. The first single, “Come Back To Me”, off her Hollywood Records album was debuted along with a music video that aired after the successful world premiere of The Cheetah Girls 2 movie and got rave reviews. The video for her second single, “Say Ok” pretty much confirmed the obvious rumor of a HSM romance when Zac appeared as Vanessa’s love interest. While the two actors denied those reports, fans were convinced otherwise. The video was so cute, we couldn’t help but be on “Team Zanessa”!

This girl doesn’t slow down! Since the first High School Musical wrapped, Ashley has been working non-stop! While she continues to film her popular Disney Channel series, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Ashley has been continuing her singing career. Which resulted in lending her voice to the classic song “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid on the films Special Edition re-release. She also debuted her first single, “Be Good To Me” on the High School Musical: The Concert Tour. Then in February, the blonde starlet released her first album, Headstrong, on Warner Bros. Records which went to number five on the Billboard 200 album charts, selling 64,000 copies.

Next you can see, better yet, ‘hear’ Ashley in a new cartoon series, Phineas and Ferb, that Disney is set to show a sneak preview of after the premiere of High School Musical 2 later this month.

High School Musical Returns – and It’s Better Than Ever!CORBIN BLEU – “Chad Danforth”
Since his role in the first HSM, Corbin has stayed in the public eye in many ways! In April of this year, he starred in the Original Disney Channel movie, Jump In!; alongside his father, David, which became the highest rated DCOM premiere with over 8 million viewers. Corbin has been performing at various Radio Disney concerts while promoting his first solo album, Another Side, which featured hit-singles “Push It To The Limit” and “Deal With It”. When he wasn’t performing though, Corbin continued work on the television series, Flight 29 Down, which he has starred on since 2005.

High School Musical Returns – and It’s Better Than Ever!LUCAS GRABEEL – “Ryan Evans”
After coming off the first High School Musical: The Concert Tour, Lucas has been spending his time filming and reading scripts for some new movies, such as the independent film, “Alice”. Which is based off the book series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. He also recently had a guest stint on the Superman inspired CW television series, Smallville, where he played a young Lex Luthor. Rumor has it, he’s also going to be working on a film called Milk with Sean Penn!

High School Musical Returns – and It’s Better Than Ever!MONIQUE COLEMAN – “Taylor McKessie”
Before heading back to film HSM2, Monique displayed some of her best moves on the third season of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars in 2006. Unfortunately, she didn’t take home the mirror ball trophy, but she definitely wowed her way to the top 3 position! Known as the “risk taker” of the season; alongside professional partner, Louis van Amstel. Later on this year, Monique will travel across America with other competitors from past seasons as part of the Dancing With The Stars Tour. Keep a look out for when they’ll be hitting a city near you!
