Best & Worst Dressed: 2010 Met Costume Gala

BEST DRESSED
It was hard to choose my favorite looks from the night because so many of the stars looked fantastic. I had a bit of a ball gown attack when picking because I love the fairytale looks like Jennifer Lopez (in Zuhair Murad), Anne Hathaway (in Valentino), and Mila Kunis (in Vera Wang) pulled off.

I also had to include Melissa George (in J. Mendel), Emma Watson (in Burberry Prorsum), and of course Camilla Belle (in Jason Wu).

As hard as it was to choose, I honestly think Oprah in her custom Oscar de la Renta midnight blue gown stole it for me. Oprah looked beautiful!

WORST DRESSED
I don’t want to be hard on the ladies because they’re all gorgeous, but these designs fell pretty flat for me. Some of them it was the dress, and some just didn’t belong at this particular event.

Riley Keough looked tired and washed out in her Thakoon pleated gown while January Jones looked over-done and posed in a very ‘A Christmas Story’–“I can’t put my arms down”–kind of way while wearing her mini Yves Saint Laurent dress. I wasn’t into it. Not at all.

Vera Farmiga‘s blue dress by Sophie Theallet was not my cup-of-tea, but I really don’t have anything else to say about. Chloe Sevigny looked like she was wearing a table doily in her Proenza Schouler. I way too much love for Proenza, but I can’t love this dress.

I think it was the stand out black trim on the Giambattisa Valli that Rosario Dawson which made me not that into it. I’m not sure if it was too harsh for the color of the dress or if the dress was just lacking more black ribbon details. Maybe if there was a thin ribbon separating the skirt from the bodice. I’m not sure.

I liked the Miu Miu purple lace dress worn by Carey Mulligan and Bar Refaeli‘s Rag & Bone black and cream dress was sassy, but I think these would’ve looked better worn at movie premieres. I think Bar’s even would’ve looked good at an MTV award show.
