Nikki Cleary

It’s been about a year since we last talked to Jive’s new rising star Nikki Cleary. Since then she’s been making hits such as "1,2,3" and her song with ex-Dream Streeter Chris Trousdale "You’re The One That I Want". We talked to Nikki about how it was working with Chris, what this last year has been like for her, and how she’s handling everything. Read on to see what she had to say.

Hey Nikki! How are you? It’s been a little over a year since the last time we talked to you. What has this past year been like for you?
Hey there!! Wow… this past year has been a whirlwind!! I signed with Jive Records …recorded an album…and now I’m on a national tour! Everything’s really coming together … I’m about to do my video!! Things are really starting to roll! It’s getting really exciting!

With your song ‘I.M. me’ you were going by the name Brittney Cleary. Why the change?
Actually my name is Brittney!!! But when I signed with Jive It was obvious that my first name was going to be an issue… I tried to get Britney to change her name… but she wouldn’t …lol…so we decided to make me “Nikki” to avoid any confusion!

You recently did a remake of the Grease classic ‘You’re The One That I Want’ with Chris Trousdale, how did that come about?
Well, Jive pitched me the remake and I loved it! We narrowed two guy partners down to Chris Trousdale and another young artist. We picked Chris because we thought he would be better for the part! And it’s been great… he is a lot of fun to work with!!

Have you and Chris hung out together at all?
All the time when we are doing shows. Backstage we chill and after the show we will usually do dinner…one time after a show in Cleveland… we went to Six Flags together! He’s a very cool guy!

Are there any plans to do a video for the song?
We haven’t really decided yet!! I think it would be really fun to do a video to that song especially with Chris!

One of our personal faves on your album is "Sorry For Myself", what would you say is your favorite?
”Irresistible” I luv the lyrics and the melody!!!

Your songs ’1,2,3′.."You’re The One That I Want’…and "Summertime Guys" are doing very well on Radio Disney….do you know what your next single will be?
Not sure… but we are thinking maybe “The Game”.. it’s a really cool song!!

Soon you’ll be heading out on the road for the Freshlook/Freshface Mall and Middle School Tour, are you excited for that?
OMG absolutely!!! Actually we are now just finishing up the tour …. It was a lot of fun … I got to meet sooo many people!!! We still have a few more shows to do…. Then we go home for a few days … then back and out to do some Radio Disney events!!
