It’s very rare that you can turn on the television, radio or even flip through a magazine without seeing something on hotel heiress turned model–reality TV star–fashion designer–perfumer–actress & songstress Paris Hilton! At only 24 years old, Ms. Hilton is already a tabloid queen.
As the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of the Hilton hotels and the major source of the family’s estimated $300 million dollar empire; Paris and younger sister Nicky share the throne as the Hilton heiresses — and although they had a much privileged upbringing, Paris has been able to shy as much as possible away from her famous last name and make one all for herself.“I don’t want to be known as the granddaughter of the Hilton’s. I want to be known as Paris,” she said.
Hilton modeled for a few years before moving on to movies, she made cameos in such films as 2001’s Ben Stiller film “Zoolander,” “Nine Lives,” “The Cat In the Hat,” “Raising Helen” and an indie film “The Hillz” with her ex-boyfriend/Tommy Hilfiger model Jason Shaw.
In 2003 she made her debut as apart of reality television trend on FOX’s “The Simple Life” with then friend and fellow socialite Nicole Richie (daughter of Lionel). Among making headlines with her crazy antics on the show, she sparked gossip over her many relationships with celebrities such as Leonard DiCaprio, Edward Furlong, (Backstreet Boy) Nick Carter, Deryck Whibley (of Sum 41) & actor Simon Rex.
But in 2004 when her famous sex-tape scandal hit the Internet, Paris became a household name. Since then she has made countless television appearances including Saturday Night Live, The OC & Las Vegas. A cameo in rapper, Eminem’s music video for “Just Lose It” and this past fall/winter she was the new face for the GUESS? ads and even released a tell-all book titled Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose.
More Recently Hilton filmed the upcoming movie National Lampoon’s Pledge This! alongside Simon Rex (Summerland), Elizabeth Daily (Rugrats) & Bianca Lawson (Save The Last Dance), about a South Beach University sorority recruiting out of the ordinary freshman girls. She also launched a fragrance, simply titled what else? Paris Hilton. “It’s very sexy, very warm. And it attracts men!“she gushed.
As if modeling and acting weren’t enough for her, Hilton just wrapped up recording her debut album (potential titles are Paris Burning or That’s Hot), her first single is titled “Screwed” and is said to be released this summer. The fourth season of “The Simple Life: Interns” begins filming this month in Maui, only without Nicole Richie. Due to a recent falling out with Nicole, Paris’ “new best friend” Kimberley Stewart (daughter of Rod) is rumored to replace Richie. “It’s my show; I’ve had it three seasons, and I just want to freshen it up — make it newer and funner.” Hilton said. Stewart was always first choice to do the show, but when first approached with the idea, passed on it so they went with Richie who was interested.
In the midst of it all; when Paris isn’t working or canoodling with her boyfriend, model Paris Latisis – she helps out charitable foundations such as the children’s charity Toys for Tots and is working on her fashion line that will include lots of Hello Kitty themed accessories and tops with slogans such as That’s Hot, You’re Not.
Next you can catch Paris as “Paige Edwards” this month in the new horror-flick “House of Wax” about a group of teens who stop at a gas station on their way to a college football game only to be stranded and lured into horrific situations because of the creepy gas station owner. Elisha Cuthbert (The Girl Next Door), Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill) and Jared Padelecki (New York Minute) also star.
What does the future hold for Paris? A new movie she’s currently filming titled “Bottoms Up” and the launch of a department store with her sister Nicky, who’s clothing line Chick recently hit stores!
There you have it, Paris does it all: models, acts, sings, designs, helps out with charitable causes and still has time for a social life. She may be well-known for her many entertainment flaws, but she stays focused and confident “Be happy with yourself, no matter what you look like, and then you’ll be attractive … because everybody’s beautiful.” Now, that’s hot.
