Mandy VentriceWe recently got to talk with rising star Mandy Ventrice … she sings, she writes, produces, and plays instruments … she’s the new 17 year old songster about to blow everything up.

Hey Mandy! How are you?
I am great, thanks for asking!

How did you get into singing? Has it always been a big part in your life?
Singing has always been apart of my life, since I was 2. I got into singing seriously when I was about 12…I made a demo CD of 3 songs I wrote, and I just sent and gave it to anyone and everyone, and I sold it over the internet, and it eventually fell into the hands of my manager, Mike Caputo. Things just went from there.

Is there a certain artist that has a big influence on you?
Mariah Carey was the one artist I wanted to be just like. I taught myself how to sing by listening to her music. She was one of the reasons I wanted to become a singer.

What musical category do you think your sound falls under?
I barely know, it changes so much. You have to adapt to what music is popular, and that goes in and out so much. But, right now I am aiming towards a mix of rock an R&B…which has always been what I wanted to do. At this point, I don’t even care what’s “in”…I just finally, want to be able to do what I want to do…and do the music I grew up on. I mean, that’s only logical.

Mandy VentriceIs there a certain process you go through when writing a song?
Not really…producers send me tracks and I write to them, record them at home, send them back.

Have any of your songs, sprung from personal experiences?
All of them are from something I am feeling about someone or something.

When did you start writing music?
I started writing songs when I was about seven.

So, you opened up for Greg Raposo for his first solo show. What was that like?
It was fun, an interesting day at the least.

Have you kept in touch with Greg since?
I talk to him here and there, his manager and my manager work together on a few things…but that is basically it.

Since the guys say there is no rivalry since the breakup, do you think you’d ever open a show for Chris Trousdale?
Chris had mentioned wanting me to open for him…but I don’t think so, he is my friend and all, and I wish him all the best, but I’m not going the route he is musically, so it just wouldn’t make sense.

Mandy VentriceWhat process do you go through when picking a set list?
I usually just perform my favorite songs of mine, or whatever I feel like singing. Me and my manager go through all my songs, and just decide what I should do for a particular show.

You’re currently working on your album. Are there any songs that haven’t made the CD, that you wish had?
We haven’t even gotten to the process where we decide what songs are going to make the album, in the end, that is up to the label to decide. But if there is a particular song I want on my album, then it’s going on there.

Out of all your songs, which is the most fun to perform?
I’ve only performed a few times, so I don’t really have a favorite.

What would you say are the ups and downs of being in this industry?
Jealousy, people always in your business, lack of trust, such isolation…those things are the downs. The only ups for me is being able to do what I love…I only wanna be doing music because it makes me happy, it’s me…I don’t care about all the other stuff that comes along with it.

Mandy VentriceHave you met any fans who you’ve kept in touch with? Or have made a big impression on you?
I keep in touch with all my fans. Even just a hi, I’m a fan…is a big impression on me.

What do you hope people will learn about you through your music?
I’m not Britney, Christina, or Avril. My lyrics reflect me, my life, what I’ve seen, what I’ve gone through, what people in my life have gone through. I don’t just sing random shit that doesn’t apply to me at all…so I hope people learn about, me, through my music.

Any exciting projects or plans you have coming up that you could tell us about?
Not much that I’m allowed to say, unfortunately. But you’ll be the first to know once I can release info.

Thank so much for taking the time to talk with us we really appreciate it.
Thank you!! take care.
